Huawei Mate 40E has been launched in China. The new Huawei phone comes as a slightly tweaked version of the Huawei Mate 40 that was launched in October last year. Huawei Mate 40E features a curved display with a hole-punch design and triple rear cameras. The smartphone also includes HiSilicon Kirin 990E SoC. Huawei Mate 40E is the fifth model in the Mate 40 series — after the Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and the Mate 40 RS Porsche Design.

Huawei Mate 40E price has been set at CNY 4,599 (roughly Rs. 51,500) for the 8GB + 128GB storage variant, while the 8GB + 256GB storage model is priced at CNY 5,099 (roughly Rs. 57,100). It comes in Bright Black, Glaze White, and Secret Silver colour options. The phone is currently available for pre-orders in China and will go on sale from March 18. However, details about its global availability and pricing are yet to be revealed.

Going by the specifications, the Mate 40E 5G appears to be a slimmed-down variant of the Pro. It is equipped with the Kirin 990E chipset, which is paired with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. The phone features a 6.5-inch FHD+ curved OLED panel that offers a 90Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. The screen has a punch-hole cutout in the top left corner that houses a 13-inch selfie camera. It also gets an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The back of the phone features a circular camera module that consists of a primary 64-megapixel sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto unit with 3x optical zoom, and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide unit. The smartphone also lets you capture macro shots using the ultra-wide sensor. The camera module also consists of a laser focus sensor and the LEICA branding. The Mate 40E runs Android 10 based EMUI 11 out of the box and houses a 4,200mAh battery that supports 40W wired and wireless fast charging. It also gets Wi-Fi 6, an IP53 rating, NFC, a headphone jack, air gestures, and 5G support.
