OPPO Band Style launched in India with AMOLED display, blood-oxygen monitor, and more: price, specs

Oppo Band Style is the first fitness band from the company in India, launched at the F19 Pro event. The new fitness band has several health-centric features but the most highlighted one is the SpO2 monitor. This is essentially a blood oxygen level monitor that tells you how much oxygen is dissolved in your blood at a given point in time. Measuring the blood oxygen level became crucial after the pandemic, with people scrambling to buy themselves oximeters. Smartphones companies just integrated a slightly toned-down version of this oximeter into the fitness bands and smartwatches to capitalise on the need while enhancing wearable features. Oppo Band Style encompasses all such features for a low price.

A fitness band is mostly about tracking how much fit you are, which is why Oppo is stressing the features that will give you a comprehensive picture of what is going on with your health. Not only the blood-oxygen-level and heart rate, but the Oppo Band Style also tracks sleep cycles. Oppo says the health monitoring system on the Band Style is specialised to detect sleep problems. These problems could be your erratic sleep schedule, sleeping less than recommended, oversleeping, and unsound sleep. The data for all these problems will be collected by the Band Style and logged into the HeyTap Health app that will analyse it to give you suggestions, according to Oppo.

OPPO Band Style sports a 1.1-inch AMOLED full-colour display with 126 x 294 pixels resolution, 100 percent ide-gamut, DCI-P3, and 2.5D curved-surface scratch-resistant glass. It is powered by the Apollo 3 chipset, has 16MB storage, and comes with 40 watch-face designs. The fitness tracker supports continuous blood-oxygen monitoring, real-time heart rate tracking, and 12 workout modes. These workout modes include Outdoor Run, Indoor Run, Fat Burn Run, Outdoor Walk, Outdoor Cycling, Indoor Cycling, Elliptical, Rowing, Cricket, Badminton, Swimming and Yoga.

The all-new OPPO Band Style also supports sleep tracking to analyse users’ sleep length and sleep stages for a better understanding of their sleep patterns. Separately, the fitness band will vibrate to warn users about too high or too low heart rate, and this works during exercise as well to help users keep track of their progress and prevent over-training. There’s a Fat Burn mode that provides real-time guidance. It also monitors and evaluates fat-burn efficiency.

There’s a multi-coloured X that shows steps walked, calories burned, exercise duration, and activity of the day in bars. It is 50-meter water-resistant and it can record laps to show calories burnt in the swimming mode. The get-up reminder will remind users to stand up and relief muscles when they have been sitting still for too long. The OPPO Band Style connects to the HeyTap Health app via Bluetooth 5.0 LE and receive incoming calls and messages, notifications, and control your music playback. It allows users to set alarms, vibrate to wake up, and weather alerts.

The 100mAh battery is claimed to take 1.5 hours to fully charge and is said to last up to 12 days. It is compatible with Android 6.0 or higher and a firmware update for iOS support will be available in April.
